Hull and Beyond…running towards the future

This year we’ve begun exciting plans to help transform futures and change lives in Hull, one of the most disadvantaged cities in the UK, where 33.4% of children live in relative poverty.

Hull is a city of contrasts. At the same time as being awarded City of Culture in 2017, over 1 in 3 residents report going hungry and skipping meals. 30% of parents in Hull said they feel lonely and isolated most or all of the time, and nearly 50% of Hull’s population lives in communities that are among the poorest 10% in the entire country. This means that nearly half of Hull’s neighbourhoods have some of the highest levels of poverty, worst housing and least access to local services in the UK.

We believe that every family deserves the chance to flourish, which is why we’re so excited to begin to make a real difference for families of Hull with our proven-to-work holistic, grass roots and compassion-centred approach.

To kickstart this journey, in June 2025 a brilliant team of 21 runners laced up their trainers and took on the Hull 10k. With a mighty cheer squad stationed at the 1km and 9km mark (armed with snacks, signs and boundless energy), our supporters created a joyful, wind-blown hub of encouragement. The atmosphere was full of laughter, high-fives and determination. A real celebration of what can happen when people come together for something bigger than themselves!

Together, our team raised over £6,000 — the first steps towards starting life-changing work in Hull.

We’re now laying the groundwork to begin running our groups in Hull very soon. The need is great, but so is the hope, and we can’t wait to get going.
