Recently, our CEO, Kate was invited for a live interview on BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme. This opportunity allowed her to speak directly to a broad audience about an issue that is at the very heart of Flourishing Families’ mission – the devastating impact of poverty on young children growing up in the UK. In the interview Kate included some key aspects of helping preschool children and families to overcome the challenges of poverty including the essential need for holistic approaches, shaping interventions by both listening to families and understanding the latest research and focusing on overcoming the gap in school readiness faced by the poorest children.

Earlier this month we had the privilege of hosting the Chancellor of the Exchequer and Member of Parliament for Leeds West and Pudsey, Rachel Reeves, at a showcase of the work we do to empower families.
“You saved Christmas for us,” Gemima said as we handed over four gift-packed stockings for her kids and three large bags of food.
