Hull and Beyond…running towards the future
This year we’ve begun exciting plans to help transform futures and change lives in Hull, one of the most disadvantaged cities in the UK, where 33.4% of children live in relative poverty.

This term we have been thrilled to start our latest Enhanced Volunteer Programme! We
have gathered some of our brilliant volunteers to meet as a group, get to know each other
more and build on skills that underpin their volunteering experience. So far, we have looked
at topics such as hard skills, soft skills and working with children. Many of our volunteers
have been a part of our FFL groups and clubs previously, they have seen the difference that
it has made and now want to give something back.
Susan joined our enhanced volunteer group this term and told us:
‘I like enhanced volunteering cos you meet new people, you can support each other and you
also learn new things’

Earlier this month we had the privilege of hosting the Chancellor of the Exchequer and Member of Parliament for Leeds West and Pudsey, Rachel Reeves, at a showcase of the work we do to empower families.
“You saved Christmas for us,” Gemima said as we handed over four gift-packed stockings for her kids and three large bags of food.
