The Magic Begins…

What a brilliant start to the term at Summerfield Primary School with our 2 week Creative Writing Masterclass! Led by English Literature student Anna May from Leeds University, the classes have been designed to get the children excited about writing and how they can use it as a way to channel their thoughts and ideas.

The children eagerly engaged with every part of the session and by the end we weren’t short of riveting fairy tales, silly rhyming poems and exciting short stories. The first session had the children rotating around the room with a number of different storytelling stations. This included writing a story in pairs by rolling mysterious story dice. To finish our time together the children got to work on their own story which they had created using the imaginative routes of a specially made ‘story map’. It’s been a wonderful learning journey!

This sums up for us why we do what we do. Everyone deserves to know that they matter, whatever their circumstances and challenges.
