Rolling out the welcome mat – introducing our new starters!

We’re thrilled to welcome the latest additions to our team, Tabitha, Papaya and Josiah, our Graduate Interns, and Helen, the latest member of our cookery team. We can’t wait for them to showcase their experience, expertise and enthusiasm! Let’s get to know them a little better…

Tabitha

I initially started volunteering with Flourishing Families while at university. I really enjoyed the grass-roots approach of involving parents and carers, contributing to life-long learning and encouraging adults to engage with their children in the classroom. As a Graduate Intern, I will be helping to develop the nutritional education programme further, as well as getting involved in the many different sessions that FFL run.

Papaya

After volunteering with the FFL Family Cookery Clubs during university, I realised how valuable the groups were to families, and the joy they created. I’m excited to be an intern with the FFL team and to have a bigger part to play in offering families experiences that will help them grow. I also hope to expand knowledge around healthy eating and nutrition within the groups.

Josiah

My primary motivation for doing this internship is to use my abilities to positively impact people. I also hope to improve and develop my own skill set in order to be better placed to support people in the future. More specifically, I am excited to start developing groups that facilitate a relaxed and enjoyable space where fathers and children can spend time together.

Helen

I am really excited to be working at FFL. I love helping families to advance in their own cooking skills and enjoy healthier meal times all together as a family. I’m also really looking forward to working in the adult literacy setting. I’m passionate about igniting people’s enthusiasm and confidence in reading.

I’m a Somebody

“Before this group, I felt like a nobody. Now I feel like somebody.” This was the answer 8-year-old Evie gave when asked about the difference our Activity-Based Mentoring Group had made for her. This sums up for us why we do what we do. Everyone deserves to know that they matter, whatever their circumstances and challenges.
