Our dedicated team of staff and volunteers is at the heart of our mission to support families across the city

Kate

CEO

As CEO of Flourishing Families Leeds, I am incredibly proud to lead a dynamic and committed team of staff and volunteers working to tackle poverty and inequality in my home city.

With a career spanning education, charity and public sectors, I bring a deep understanding of the complex challenges facing families and how to address them with timely, practical and compassionate solutions.

Emma

Operations Manager

Drawing on years of experience as a teacher, I now lead our Early Years programme and oversee day-to-day operations at Flourishing Families Leeds.

I love building strong relationships with families and supporting our team to deliver joyful, creative community groups. As a mum of two, I understand first-hand the value of fun, supportive spaces for parents and children alike.

Bekah

Project Manager

I lead the Family Literacy programme at Flourishing Families. I am passionate about the power of shared reading and being able to support families in developing a love of reading for life.

I have extensive experience as a teacher and curriculum lead and it’s a joy to be able to work with children and have the privilege of seeing their imagination, confidence and love of stories grow.

My favourite children’s books are The Storm Whale, Eyebrows of Doom and anything in the Mog series.

Jane

Project Manager

I’m currently covering maternity leave as Team Leader for both Family Cookery and Family Literacy. It’s a pleasure to be part of such a supportive and skilled team and working with Flourishing Families is proving to be a fulfilling and inspiring experience.

With a strong background in education and retail management, I bring a wealth of experience in working with people, supporting families, and creating positive learning environments. I’ve always had a deep love for cooking and a genuine passion for helping families give their children the best possible start in life, motivations that align perfectly with Flourishing Families’ vision.

Helen

Project Worker

I’m part of the FFL cookery team, where I use my skills in planning, organisation and recipe development to help things run smoothly, from sourcing ingredients to leading groups and packing for sessions. I am also responsible for running our hardship appeals – one of my favourite parts of the job. I love being able to see how this practical way to help can make such a difference for families.

I love bringing energy to our community events and being able to chat to so many different people. My top three FFL recipes? Lasagne, Chicken Fajitas, and Apple & Mango Crumble – my own creation!

Janine

Project Worker

I work part time and also volunteer for FFL (I enjoy it so much I can’t keep away!). You will mainly find me in Story Tellers, but appear in mentoring and cookery from time to time.

I love the work I do at FFL from developing resources for Story Tellers, to then meeting the families at the groups we run. I am a great believer that you can’t have too many books – I love reading! Storytellers is something I’m very passionate about.

Some of my favourite children’s books are Stickman, Green Eggs and Ham,  and The Harry Potter series – Goblet of Fire is my favourite, and I’m proud to be a Slytherin!

Pam

Admin and Finance

I volunteer with Flourishing Families, supporting the charity’s day-to-day administration and finance operations. While much of my work takes place behind the scenes, I also value the opportunity to get involved with family support, contributing directly to the impact of our programmes. Outside of my volunteering, I enjoy walking and spending quality time with family, both locally and abroad.

Eloise

Graduate Intern

I’ve always been passionate about working with children, and I feel incredibly fortunate to be able to do that every day through my role at Flourishing Families. What began as volunteering during my first year at university has grown into a full-time career that I truly love.

My work focuses on Mentoring and Family Literacy, where I have the privilege of connecting with many inspiring children and families. I bring a blend of creativity and strong organisational skills, and I’m always looking for ways to make a positive impact.

Mia

Graduate Intern

I first got involved with Flourishing Families as a volunteer during my time at university and I’m now part of the amazing FFL team full-time. You will mostly find me in one of our Family Cookery Clubs, running events in the local community or at one of our Mentoring Groups.

I’m passionate about mental health, wellbeing, and tackling social isolation. One of the most rewarding parts of my role is meeting new people and building genuine, meaningful connections. I love creating welcoming spaces where people feel seen, heard, and supported.

When I’m not working, I enjoy relaxing with a good book or going for a walk with friends.

Emi

Graduate Intern

I’m passionate about working with families to create delicious and nutritious meals together, helping each family build the skills and confidence to enjoy cooking while improving their diet. In my role I focus on supporting this through our Family Cookery Clubs, connecting with families to make healthy cooking fun and accessible.

Before joining the team, I volunteered with Flourishing Families and now coordinate our volunteers. Drawing on my own experience, I enjoy promoting volunteering opportunities and growing the team to reach more families across Leeds.

When I’m not working, I like going for walks with friends and family, reading, and trying out new recipes in the kitchen.

Caroline

Graduate Intern

I’m passionate about helping families have fun together and feel part of something special. You’ll usually find me at Play Pals chatting with parents, playing with little ones, and sharing ideas they can take home.

I’ve helped design lots of the games, activities and resources we use, and I love creating warm, playful spaces where everyone feels at ease. Whether I’m leading a group or crafting a new idea, I just love being part of something that helps children and families flourish.

Bella

Undergraduate Intern

I was previously an Undergraduate Intern and now work part-time with Flourishing Families while I complete my Psychology degree. Relationships are at the heart of my work and social life – I love meeting new people and building meaningful connections.

I have a particular interest in children and young people’s wellbeing, so I mainly work within our mentoring strand.

I love seeing the positive impact our work has on children’s lives and enjoy using what I’m learning in my studies to help develop and enhance our groups.

Richard

Chair of Trustees

I have the privilege of leading a fantastic team of volunteer trustees for Flourishing Families, where we oversee the overall running of the charity. I also enjoy connecting with our supporters, sharing updates about our work and the exciting changes we’re seeing in the lives of families as we grow across the city.

Originally from Hull, I bring experience from both the voluntary sector and business, which shapes my approach to strong governance and ensuring our work delivers meaningful impact.
