Community

Being socially connected is a more important protective factor for mental wellbeing and life expectancy than employment or education level. Children who have access to community activities and social support have better educational outcomes and increased social skills.

1 in 4 low-income parents report that they very often or always feel lonely or isolated, and 4 in 5 report feeling lonely and isolated at least some of the time.

More than half of parents put this down to the cost of living crisis as so many cannot afford expensive and difficult to access family activities and days out.

The poorest communities in Leeds lack good transport access, and there are very few if any “third spaces” – cost-free spaces dedicated to creating community through constructive, meaningful activities for parents and children alike.

We are passionate about creating community and connection – it is at the heart of who we are.

We run regular coffee mornings for families which are all about combating social isolation through shared activities, hot drinks and good conversation. Our fun, relaxed mornings give families and individuals the opportunity to take part in rewarding and enjoyable activities while meeting others in the process.

Community Events

Our community events provide a free day-out for families and are jam packed full of fun activities, crafts, team games and food for children and adults alike, particularly during the school holidays when many families struggle financially.

These are always a firm favourite and attract a crowd. There is always something for everyone and it is wonderful to catch up with so many families.

I can’t wait for the next one. My kids absolutely loved it and we can’t believe it was free!

I love all the events that I have attended. It’s so nice to get to know new parents have a chat and a laugh. My daughter loves going to the family events, there are so many different activities to do and she is never bored.
