Christmas 2020

We are thrilled to report that this Christmas we were able to provide large hampers of food for over 50 families in our community owing to the generous giving of many of our supporters. It’s no surprise that many parents have been struggling to feed their families over the break, especially those who have been worst hit by the pandemic and those suffering from bereavement.

The hampers included a range of Christmas goodies, together with plenty of staples such as bacon, eggs, fruit and cheese. Some of the hampers contained a full Christmas dinner for the whole family, including a turkey with all the trimmings, vegetables, puddings and Christmas crackers.

The Flourishing Families team, together with volunteers, drove around West Leeds delivering the hampers to the doorstep of each household.

We were encouraged to receive some lovely comments from our families:

“I didn’t know people cared this much” “outstanding – thank you from the bottom of our hearts”

“We can have Christmas this year and have a proper meal with lots of lovely treats”

“What a wonderful gift after such a terrible year” Thanks again to everyone whose support made this possible!

I’m a Somebody

“Before this group, I felt like a nobody. Now I feel like somebody.” This was the answer 8-year-old Evie gave when asked about the difference our Activity-Based Mentoring Group had made for her. This sums up for us why we do what we do. Everyone deserves to know that they matter, whatever their circumstances and challenges.
