How do we support families to flourish?

We believe in drawing alongside families and meeting people where they are. We work with communities so that together we can see lasting transformation.

We take a grassroots, holistic and practical approach to support families in key areas: tackling food poverty and poor diet through Family Cookery Clubs; improving mental health through child and family wellbeing groups; boosting literacy with Family Literacy groups; supporting young families and nurturing early childhood development; and reducing isolation through community events, groups for parents and carers and individual support. Our groups and activities take place in local community venues and in partnership with local primary schools.

Sensory play is a fantastic way to entertain the kids this summer whilst also being incredibly beneficial for fine motor control development!

This creative beach sensory tray is easy to make at home and costs less than £4 to make 🏖️
Fruit salads are a healthy, economical and tasty treat for the whole family and really fun to make with kids. We've got a list of ingredients below, but really any fruits and berries (especially seasonal and cheaper!) will work.

🍓 Gather your ingredients
a punnet of strawberries
a punnet of blueberries (or blackberries or raspberries)
1 tin of pears in natural juice
2 apples
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons clear honey
A few mint leaves chopped (optional)

🍓Mix the lemon juice, honey and any mint leaves in a small bowl to make a dressing

🍓Chop all the fruit into small pieces

🍓Mix everything together and enjoy!
Summer is the time for reading!

Here are some brilliant recommendations if you're stuck for what to read with your child this summer. Looking for more? The Book Trust has some brilliant lists, from colourful and engaging picture books all the way up to gripping young adult books.
We love free, outdoor activities that are fun for all the family. Earlier this week, Eloise and Caroline went on a sunny walk in a local park and came up with lots of great activities to do with kids.

🌻 Eye-Spy - There are so many exciting things to spy in a park or wood. If you're playing with younger children, try getting them to say the colour or shape of the object instead of the first letter.

🌻Colour spot - see how many things of one colour you can find. You could even take a drawing pad and crayon to draw them all as you go. Or take pictures on your phone to draw back at home.

🌻Hide-and-Seek - the classic! Particularly fun to hide behind trees and benches.

🌻Making flower crowns. Use your finger or thumb nail to press a hole through a flower stem and thread another stem through. Repeat on the next flower until you have a chain that you can wear as a crown, bracelet or necklace

🌻Make a fairy garden! Find a quiet space and gather leaves, sticks, stones and any acorns or pinecones you might find to create a tiny garden or home.
